In addition to all of the other great tournament action (NCAA, NAIA, etc) going on this weekend, there will be plenty of high school game action taking place in gyms all over Southern California.  One such event is the 1st Annual "Southern California Hoop Review" sponsored by Gerry Frietas' scouting service.   The event will feature 34 teams, including several high school teams (playing together as club teams, but without their high school coaches in the case of the CIF-SS teams),  travel & AAU teams, as well as teams that will be composed of unattached individual players who enter the event.

The Southern California Hoop Review is open to all players at the high school level, including unsigned seniors, and will provide everyone with an opportunity to demonstrate their talents and skills in a competitive environment.   As with all spring events in California, the event is open to NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and Junior College coaches, but NCAA Division I coaches are not permitted to attend per NCAA restrictions.  However, several scouting services and recruiting mavens are expected to be present, so you can be sure those college coaches who are unable to attend will hear about who played well and who is worth taking a second look at.

The tournament-format event wil run from 9:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, so there will be plenty of opportunity to see some hoops action.  Each team will play four games (two each day).

For additional information about this event, contact Gerry Freitas at 408-998-1327, or you can reach him by e-mail at

See you there...
