Mater Dei To Play Fontana Tonight
At Ocean View HS, 7:30 P.M.--(Jan. 8, 2000)

Will Mater Dei miss the Soderbergs?  Everyone will get to find out tonight as Mater Dei, currently ranked 9th in the country by USA today takes on Fontana.  This game should mark the breakout for the young freshman Harrison Schaen (6'-8" Fr. SF/PF) who up until now has only seen limited playing time, with most of the minutes he would have been likely to play having gone to Lance Soderberg.    Mikey Strawberry (6'-5" So. SG/SF) should also see more playing time too, and it's true that while Mater Dei will be missing some of the depth they had with the two Soderberg brothers, Strawberry and Harrison should be more than enough to compensate for the absence the two brothers.   And this game will also feature some interesting matchups besides those in the paint, especially the point guard battles as Fontana's Mike Stevenson and Trevante Nelson take on Cedric Bozeman and the other tough point guards like Pat Haddan and Ricky Porter.  And this game will also reunite four of the members of the SCA 14-U AAU national champs as Fontana brings Nelson, Travon Williams, and Wesley Washington, while Mater Dei will have Harrison.  Should be a great game, and the real test will be for Mater Dei, whose national ranking could be on the line.
