"National Prep" Weekly Basketball
Poll, Week 5--(Jan. 4, 2000)

Jamie DeMoney and Jeremy Plowman (two guys we've never met) keep sending us their National Prep Basketball Poll, and they've also asked us to participate in the panel of writers who submit scores each week to them.  Thus far we haven't had the time or the real inclination to get too involved, but since they keep sending us the poll, we figured we'd post it up here and share it with everyone else. The poll is also available at AllStater Sports, an online "magazine" which has some interesting stuff, including some good advice and information on recruiting and the recruiting process, and some excellent articles written by Craig Ross, who also authored a great little book called "How to Get A College Basketball Scholarship".  And other than the methods suggested in his book, one way to get that schollie is to play for and star on one of the teams listed below.  Guaranteed.  A sure-fire thing.  No doubt about it.

But even if you don't play for one of the teams listed below, it's still fun to speculate over "Who's No. 1?"   And don't get mad at us for these selections because we didn't pick 'em, we're just reporting them.   Really.  Please don't complain and say "How come you picked this team or that team as number. . .  "  because we didn't.  These are not ours "poll" picks and we disavow any connection with them. It is interesting to note though, the huge difference between this poll and the USA Today poll, at least with respect to West Coast teams like Mater Dei, Artesia, and Dominguez.  Anyway, here's the poll:
