This Saturday at Compton CC, Spot Up will sponsor a terrific showcase, and if it ultimately doesn't turn out to be the best, at least it's the first.  Really though, we think it's going to be pretty good, with some great matchups. And best of all, a portion of the gate receipts will be donated to Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles. Here's the schedule:

10:00 a.m.   Glendora v. Verbum Dei
12:00 p.m.   LA Jordan v. Compton HS
2:00 p.m.   Price v. Gardena Serra
4:00 p.m.   Ontario v. Bishop Montgomery
6:00 p.m.   Redondo Union v. Compton Centennial

Want to see how good Glendora is without Casey Jacobsen, and what the "new" Verbum Dei team looks like without Marlon Parmer and with a new coach?  Then check out the first game.  Want to see Tyrone Riley take on the Tarbabes?  Then the second game is for you.   Can D-V Price beat Gardena Serra, which is in D-VAA by enrollment, but which plays "up" in D-IV and won the CIF title last year in that Division?  Aerick Sanders v. Othel Johnson?  Then check out game three at 2:00 p.m.    Just want to see a dunking and ballhandling exhibition by two of the top guards in the country in the junior class?   Then go see Errick and Derrick Craven, and their teammates, Brian Pruitt, Kenny D'Oyen, DeVaughn Peace and the rest, take on the mystery team from Ontario.  DI-AA (Ontario) v. D-III Bishop Montgomery at 4:00 p.m.   Finally, see if Redondo can rebound from it's surprising upset loss to Peninsula last Wednesday night, as they take on the Apaches of Compton Centennial:  Andrew Zahn v. Ellis Myles, a battle of the big guys, two old school power forwards slugging it out in the paint.

This is a chance to see some top league and non-league matchups and they are probably the best games being played tomorrow, no doubt about it.   If you can't get out this evening to a game, or just haven't had enough, then get over to Compton City College for some great action. . . .

And it's cheap:  Tickets for the event are $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for students and seniors, and kids under 12 are just $1.00., and a portion of the proceeds will be distributed to the LA Chapter of Big Brothers.

See you there.
