Nike Extravaganza V: Oak Hill
Player Profiles #1--(Feb. 3, 2000)

Oak Hill, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, and perhaps the best ever high school team we've seen (really, we mean it, seriously) features 11 players on its current roster.  We're going to feature their profiles direct from the Oak Hill 1999-2000 Warrior Basketball Guide.  Five today and six tomorrow.   Hey, we didn't write this stuff, but it's still kind of informative. . . Here's No. 1 in the two-part player profile series.

Wilbur Allen (6'-3" Jr. G)-- Wilbur is one of the strongest and hardest working members of the team.  His greatest asset is his work ethic.  As his skills develop, Wilbur will compete for playing time at the shooting guard spot.  He has improved his shooting during the individual workouts, and wil provide depth at the guard spot for the Warriors.  Wilbur is an excellent student. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Allen

What I like most about Oak Hill is: It is the best place for anyone wanting to improve as a basketball player or student.

Rashaad Carruth (6'-2 1/2" Jr. G)-- Rashaad could develop into one of the best guards to ever play for the Warriors.  His ability to score off the dribble and knock down open three-pointers makes him oneof the most versatile players on this year's team.  Rashaad will be counted on to be one of our top scorers.  He, along with Cliff Hawkins anad Chris Williams, provide the Warriors with possibly the  nation's best high school backcourt.  He is the son of Major and Phyllis Blackshear

What I like most about Oak Hill is:  Mrs. Smith's brownies.

Abdou Diame (6'-8 1/2" Sr. C)-- Abdou might be the quickest and most athletic player on our team.  A versatile player, abdou can play inside and on the perimeter.  His shot has improved ramatically, and he has the ability to score around the basket in different ways.  Abdou is one of the team captains, along with  Cliff Hawkins.  He will be counted on to be a leader on and off the court.  Abdou has committed to Auburn.   Abdou is an Honor Student.  he is the son of Ms Amsatou Guisse.

What I like most about Oak Hill is: I love my English teacher, Mrs. Fleshman.

DeSagana Diop (6'-11" Jr. C)--Sagana is the fourth native of Senegal to attend Oak Hill. Only a junior, his potential seems unlimited.   His development has progressed quickly in individual workouts.  He is a true center with ability to score with either hand around the basket. Sagana is also a tremendous rebounder and shot blocker.  As he matures, he should become a dominant player on both ends of the court.  Sagana is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Souleyman Diop.

Cliff Hawkins (6'-1" Sr. G)--Cliff is the only returning starter off last year's Natinoal Championship Team.  This year he will be moved from off guard ot the point guard spot.  A natural southpaw, Cliff has the ability to score and lead a tema.  He is, without a doubt, the best on the ball defender on this year's squad.  As co-captain, Cliff will be counted on heavily to lead the Warriors on both ends of the floor. He has decided to attend the University of Kentucky next fall. Cliff is the son of Ms. Monique Wilhite and Mr. Ricky Hunter.

What I like most about Oak Hill is: I enjoy playing for the best high school program in America.

Dave Holmes (6'-5" Sr. F) -- Dave is new to the Oak Hill basketball program.  A forward by positino, he brings many needed qualities ot the team. Dave is a good post defender, an outstanding rebounder, and a good shooter all the way to the three-point line.  He plays extremely hard and will give up his body for possession of the basketball.  Diving on the flor and taking charges is part of his individual game.  Dave has committed ot play for Manhattan University next year.  He is the son of Ms. Patricia Holmes.
