Boys Division V-A 2nd
Round Game Details--(Feb 20, 2000)

Division V-A 's Second round was the Sweet 16 of this bracket, and the details are sketchy, and in fact we're missing a couple of games entirely; next up on Tuesday is the quarterfinals. Check the updated bracket for locations, and remember, all game times are 7:30 p.m.

Here's what happened on Friday night:

Division V-A

Price 72, West LA Baptist 45--Othell Johnson scored 13 points and Jermaine Jamerson added 10 for the top-seeded Knights in a V-A victory at Serra.

Rolling Hills Prep 80, Wilson Creek 45--After winning its first playoff game Wednesday, Yucaipa Wilson Creek could not handle Rolling Hills Prep's size in the paint and fell in a Division V-A second-round game. Rolling Hills Prep (14-10) outscored the Eagles 17-8 from the free throw line and shot twice as many foul shots. Rolling Hills Prep led 18-9 after one quarter and Wilson Creek never threatened again. Sophomore guard Monta King led Wilson Creek (14-7) with 13 points, five assists and four steals and sophomore forward Pete Taylor added seven points, eight rebounds and four steals.ROLLING HILLS PREP (80) -- Perry 14, Elliott 23, Douglass 9, Mizrahi 4, Campbell 16, Gillic 6, Rose 2, Russ 2, Miller 2, Danna 2. WILSON CREEK (45) -- King 13, Bush 6, Shields 6, Taylor 7, B. Lee 4, J. Lee 4, Moore 2, Sanders 3. Halftime score -- Rolling Hills Prep 38-16. Three-point goals -- Campbell, King 2, Sanders. Total fouls -- Rolling Hills Prep 12, Wilson Creek 23. Fouled out -- Bush, Taylor. Technical foul -- Rolling Hills Prep bench.

Orangewod Academy 78, Big Pine 68--A Riverside county team that we had difficulty finding out about because the Press-Enterprise didn't put the details up on it's website, and likewise, we couldn't find anything in the Times or the Daily News either.  And have you ever tried to get details from Big Pine. . . good luck.  If anyone knows what really happened in this game, send in the details.   Orangewood will play Hillcrest Christan GH on Tuesday.

Hillcrest Christian Granada Hills 60, Southwestern 51--We were surprised not to see anything in the Pasadena Star News on this game since they cover the Southwestern team, but given the result, it's not surprising.  But it was surprising that neither the LA Times Valley Edition nor the Daily News had room for Hillcrest's win.  If anyone has the details, send them in.  Hillcrest will play Orangewood Academy in the next round of the playoffs on Tuesday.  Check the bracket update for location.

Antelope Valley Christian 82, Mesrobian 59--AV Christian was led by the usual suspects:  Matthew Nurse with 21 points, Peter Beaudin with 15 and 9 rebounds, Jamaal Flanagan 26 points and 9 rebounds, Cho 14 and two new names we haven't seen before:  Bruckner 5, and De Francis 1.  AV Christian led from the start and at the end of one it was 22-11, and they improved that by two in the second quarter to take a 38-25 halftime lead.  AV Christian then held Mesrobian to just 10 third quarter points while scoring 23 themselves and finished off by allowing Mesrobian to outscore them in the fourth quarter 24-21.  Mesrobian was led by Arkin with 17, Mike 15, Toros and Andrew 10 each.  Mesrobian finishes at 17-9 and AV Christian improves to 16-9. and will play Shandon in the next round on Tuesday.

Shandon 71, Pioneer Baptist 63--The Outlaws used their quickness to win the second-round Division V-A game. Shandon’s Aaron Penner scored 18 points, Alex Ochoa had 16 and Shawn Davis added 14. Shandon (15-4) will play third-seeded Antelope Valley Christian (16-9) on Tuesday in a quarterfinal-round game.   Shandon broke open its game against Pioneer Baptist with a 24-point third quarter.

Tarbut v. Torah v. West Valley Christian--(played Saturday night, 2/19/00)

Heritage (Eastside) Christian 82, Immanuel Christian 46--(played Thursday, 2/17/00)
