Utah To Sign Compton JC PG
Kevin Bradley To LOI--(Apr. 19, 2000)

While there has been no official confirmation from the University of Utah, Brick Oettinger writes today in The Sporting News that he has "confirmed" that Compton Community College's Kevin Bradley (6'-2" So. PG) will sign with the Utes.  According to Oettinger, Bradley selected Utah over UNLV and St. Louis.  Bradley had originally signed with Pepperdine two years ago out of high school but when Lorenzo Romar got the St. Louis job Bradley requested and was granted a release from Pepperdine.  Bradley, who was the City Section Division 4-A player of the year at Crenshaw in 1997, told the LA Times last May that because former Pepperdine coach Lorenzo Romar left for Saint Louis, he would return to junior college and look to play in a bigger conference in the 2000-01 season.  "I was going to go to Pepperdine because of Romar and [assistant Darwin] Cook," Bradley told the Times last year. "Since they left, I feel I'm better than Pepperdine." Prior to signing with Pepperdine, Bradley spent two years at Irvine Valley College, where he played one year and then sat out another year with a medical redshirt after fracturing his foot.   Thus, if Bradley does officially sign with Rick Majerus, he'll have two years of eligibility remaining.

Bradley was selected to the 1999-2000 All-State Men's Basketball Squad by the CCOA Men's JC coaches. He averaged 4.9 assists per game this past season, leading Compton to a 26-5 record overall (9-1 in conference), and the Southern Regional semifinals of the State JUCO tournament.
