VIKING BASKETBALL SIGNS JERROHN JORDAN TO LETTER OF INTENT

Portland State Head Basketball Coach Joel Sobotka has announced the signing of Jerrohn Jordan to a National Letter of Intent for the 2000-01 academic year.

Jordan, a 6-8, 220-pound forward, will transfer to PSU from Los Angeles Valley College. He is a native of Valencia, California where he attended Valencia High School. This past season Jordan led LA Valley to a 27-9 record and a JC state semifinal appearance. Jordan averaged 12.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and shot 54.5% from the field.

"We are ecstatic to have Jerrohn join our family here at Portland State," Coach Sobotka said. "Not only is he a terrific basketball talent, but he also has the character and personality to be a true leader on and off campus."

Jordan, a strong student as well, plans to major in Information Technology at PSU.

"Jerrohn was impressed with the commitment to technology education at PSU, and will take advantage of the resources available to the student-athletes. Our city location, coupled with the technology partnerships developed by Portland State will allow Jerrohn to meet his educational goals," Sobotka said. "On the basketball floor, we expect him to help lead us to a Big Sky Championship and the NCAA Tournament with his energy and enthusiasm."

Jordan joins Jamaal Thomas, Charles Madison and Heath Bailey, who have already signed letters with the Vikings for next year. Coach Sobotka expects to sign at least one or two more plans this spring. Portland State is coming off a 15-14 season in 1999-2000.
