Seven LA Valley Players Sign
At Four Year Schools--(May 18, 2000)

We've already reported on most of the signings from this past spring, but it's always nice to see which JC's have been productive and successful in placing their players with four year colleges, so at the risk of being redundant, here's a press release we received this morning from the Athletic Department at LA Valley College about their five signees to four year Division I from this year's team and two others from two years ago who finished their AA degrees and signed with D-I schools.  Here's the release:

Monarch Basketball Moves Players Forward

VALLEY GLEN—The Western State Conference basketball champions are showing their strength again as they enter mid-May with five players having signed letters of intent to four-year schools.

All-State selection and WSC MVP Felix Lang joins two-time All-Conference choice Jerrohn Jordan as they head for Portland State University of the Big Sky Conference. Jordan is a local product who prepped at Valencia High School.

Issac Williamson, another All-Conference performer and 6-9 postman Wayne Huff have signed with Fort Hays State University in Kansas. Co-captain and two-year starting point guard Joe Bakhoum will move to Oklahoma Panhandle State University to continue his career.

One starter from the 1998-99 squad has completed his Associate of Arts Degree and has also signed. George Walker has signed with Texas A & M (Corpus Christi).

Monarch basketball capped off a highly successful season last March by competing in final-four action at the state championships following a 27-9 season.
