SoCal Players At GymRats NJ
"Midnight Madness"--(Sept. 22, 2000)

Not everyone from SoCal will be playing here this weekend at the adidas Double Pump Fall Premier Tournament.  As in prior years, several west coast players have been invited to attend and play in the  NJ GymRats   "Midnight Madness" which takes place at Cherry Hill, NJ (which is just east of Camden and just across the Delaware River from Philly).  One such player who will be making a return visit to Cherry Hill East HS will be Harrison Schaen (6'-8" So. PF) who two years ago played for the Orange County Maccabi team which won a Silver Medal at Cherry Hill, losing to the Los Angeles team which won the Gold.

Joining Harrison in New Jersey this weekend will be Dijon Thompson (6'-7" Sr. G/F) from Redondo Union and Cody Pearson (6'-4" Sr. SG/SF) from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame HS.   Dinos Trigonis, who worked out the arrangements for the three to participate in this prestigious event, sent us the following note on the event and Harrison, Dijon's and Cody's participation:

Thompson, Pearson and Schaen Among Featured Performers
At The 2000 Gymrats Midnight Madness in Cherry Hill NJ

6'7" senior Dijon Thompson (Redondo Union), 6'4" senior Cody Pearson   (Sherman Oaks Notre Dame) and 6'8" sophomore Harrison Schaen (Mater Dei) will be participating in the Gymrats Midnight Madness event in Cherry Hill NJ which annually features several of the top high school prospects in the nation. \

Thompson and Pearson will join the likes of Kelvin Torbert (Flint MI),  Jawad Williams (Lakewood OH/committed to North Carolina), James White (Washington DC/committed to Florida), Julian Sensley (Oakdale CT/committed to Cal), Terrance Ford (Sugarland TX), Daniel Ewing (Sugarland TX/commited to Duke), Maurice Williams (Jackson MS/committed to Alabama) and Ernest Turner (Somerdale NJ) in the 10:00 p.m. "All-American Game" while Schaen will join top underclassmen like Anthony Roberson (Saginaw MI), Sean Dockery (Chicago IL) and Matt Walsh (Philadelphia PA) in the "All-American Underclass Game."

In last year's Midnight Madness "All-American" game (viewed by a sold-out crowd of 2,000 fans, coaches and scouts), Missouri signee and McDonald's All-American Travon Bryant (Long Beach Jordan) had 31 points/18 rebounds en route to MVP honors.
