Old News: Corey Belser Commits
To The University of San Diego--(Oct. 1, 2000)

We know we missed reporting this one at the time it was first circulated on the internet,  but again, better late than never:  Reading through some of PWH's and Recruiting USA's stuff from the last week reminded us that Corey Belser (6'-6" Sr. SF/G), from Bethel HS in Spanaway, Washington, who played with the FOH Orange team this past summer (the one with Josh Reisman [Gonzaga], Michael Fey [UCLA], and others,  gave a verbal commitment to University of San Diego head coach Brad Holland about a week and a half ago, and he'll reportedly sign early during the Fall signing period, which begins on November 8.  Belser is a smooth, agile, but wiry young man who told us this summer he thinks of himself as a "point-forward," and he's right. He reminds us a lot of Jonathan Sanders (6'-7" PG/SF) who signed with Colorado State, except that Corey is probably a better overall shooter than Jonathan was at the same stage in his career.   The commitment from Belser is an excellent pickup for San Diego, and we predict some nice things from Corey during his career there.
