Ok, we've been promising these brackets for a long time and just haven't had the time to get around to post them, until now that is. . . so Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, a joyous Kwanza, a festive Winter Solstice, or whatever it is you celebrate: Here's the Mayor's Cup Bracket and Hizzoner himself (see photo). Yes, that's Dick Murphy, the real Mayor of San Diego, and since this is the "Mayor's Cup", we thought it appropriate to show you just what he looks like, since he probably won't be around. . .but if he is, now you know what he looks like. Strictly speaking the "Mayor's Cup" isnt' really a "bracket". . . It's really pool play, with the top two teams in each pool playing for the Mayor's Cup Championship at 5:00 p..m. on December 30, 2000 at the Carmel Valley Middle School at 5:00 p.m. And about that facility, we were advised by one of our readers that CVMS isn't just any old gym, no sireebob, it's a brand new facility which features seating for 1500 spectators, a joint-use facility employed also by the Polster Boys and Girls Club in Carmel Valley. . .in short, it's a facility with excellent seating, great lighting, clean, new and impressive, even if it is at a middle school.

There will be 10 teams in this bracket, divided into two pools. Here they are:
