There have been some changes, both to the schedule and to the list of participants at this event.  Here's what's happening.   This announcment comes from Dinos Trigonis, so pardon the puffery, but in fact it will be one of the best events of the high school season (well, other than those regular high school games which take place everywhere, every day during the season. . . but this is special because of the large number of top players all at one venue).  Here's what Dinos has to say:

A game between Fontana and Rowland has been added to the 7th Annual Dream Classic, to be held on Monday January 15, 2001 at Loyola Marymount's Gersten Pavilion (capacity 4,156).

The West Coast's top high school regular season event will again showcase several of Southern California's top prep squads including defending USA Today champion Dominguez (Compton).  The 2001 event game schedule is as follows:

12:45 p.m.  Fontana vs Rowland (Rowland Heights)

2:30 p.m.    Bishop Montgomery (Torrance) vs. Centennial (Corona)

4:00 p.m.    Dominguez (Compton) vs. Clovis West (Fresno)

6:00 p.m.    Redondo Union (Redondo Beach) vs. Inglewood

7:45 p.m.    Mater Dei (Santa Ana) vs. Mayfair (Lakewood)

Last year's event attracted a sold-out crowd of 5,000 fans, media, scouts and college coaches to the Long Beach State Pyramid where they witnessed Dominguez (Compton) squeak by Artesia (Lakewood) in a battle of national Top 5 teams.

This year's event will be headlined by seniors Tyson Chandler (Dominguez), Josh Childress (Mayfair/Stanford signee), Dijon Thompson (Redondo/UCLA signee), Cedric Bozeman (Mater Dei/UCLA signee), Jamaal Sampson (Mater Dei/Cal signee), Errick and Derrick Craven (Bishop Montgomery/USC signees), Jamaal Williams (Corona Centennial/New Mexico signee), Chris Hernandez (Clovis West/Stanford signee), Edwin Draughn (Mayfair/committed to Yale) and DeVaughn Peace (Bishop Montgomery/UC-Irvine signee), juniors DeAngelo Collins and Jason McKinney (Inglewood), Bobby Jones, Darius Sanders and Keion Kindred (Dominguez), Adam Zahn and Paul Meynen (Redondo), Lance Soderberg (Corona Centennial) and Mike Strawberry (Mater Dei) and sophomores Harrison Schaen and Wesley Washington (Mater Dei), Wendell White (Redondo), Fred Washington (Bishop Montgomery) and RayShawn Reed (Inglewood).  This year's 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. games will be televised on FOXSports Net 2 (on a delayed basis).

Past participants that have showcased their skills in this event include Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics), Baron Davis (Charlotte Hornets), Corey Benjamin (Chicago Bulls), Tayshaun Prince (Kentucky), Jarron and Jason Collins (Stanford), Casey Jacobsen (Stanford), Tito Maddox (Fresno State), Jeff Trepagnier (USC), Luke Walton (Arizona) and Travon Bryant (Missouri).

Ticket prices for this event (which includes admission to all games) is $8 (adults) and $6 (students).  Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event.  For more information on this event, please call Dinos Trigonis (310) 669-2307 or log-on to: www.fullctpress.com.
