Wolf Pack signs 6-9 forward.

May 10, 2001

RENO, Nev. - Kevinn Pinkney, a 6-9, 200-pound forward from Colton High School in Colton, Calif., has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Nevada this fall, it was announced Thursday by head coach Trent Johnson.

Pinkney, a three-year varsity player for head coach Byron Wesley, averaged 21.0 points per game, 13.0 rpg, 5.0 bpg, 2.0 apg and 2.0 spg last year as a senior. He helped the Yellowjackets to a 15-13 record and their first appearance in the playoffs since 1997. Pinkney was named first team all-conference, first team all-section, second team all-county and was honorable mention all-state. He scored a career-high 46 points in a game this past season.

"We are extremely excited to have Kevinn join our basketball program," said head coach Trent Johnson. "Kevinn is a better kid than athlete and his best basketball is still ahead of him."

Pinkney was being recruited by Oregon State University and cancelled a trip to Texas A&M University.

In addition to Pinkney, the Wolf Pack has already signed 5-11 point guard Jerry Petty (North Idaho College) and 6-5 forward Kirk Snyder (Upland High School).
