Plenty Of Other Top National
Tournaments This Week--(Dec. 25, 2001)

We don't have the time (nor the inlcination) to do extensive research and stories on each one of what many consider the other "top" tournaments taking place throughout the country this week featuring some of the better players from around the U.S., but in case any of you out there feel the urge to find out what else is happening this week, here's a list of some of the better tournaments not taking place in California or which don't feature teams from the SoCal region.  We can't hope to cover them all, so we won't, but if you are interested, you can find news, scores and other tidbits about these tournaments at most of the sites featured in our "Recruiting" links section. 

Among the top tournaments (links to tournament sites, where available) are:

Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC, December 26th-30th-No SoCal teams playing, but the organizers have invited some truly talented teams from all over, and they've got one of the nicest websites around. And besides that, on Thursday, they'll have a great matchup of two of the best point guards in the country:  NY Lincoln's Sebastian Telfair going head to head with Latta (SC) point guard Raymond Felton who has signed with North Carolina.  For those who weren't lucky enough to be at ABCD Camp this past summer, this will be a great matchup.

Whataburger Basketball Tournament in Ft. Worth, TX, December 26th-30th--No Bishop Montgomery this year (they won it last year) and it looks like all Texas teams, but it still is very competitive.

Arby' Basketball Classic at Tennessee High School in Bristol, TN, December 26th-30th--Interesting website.
