The Case Of The Missing Point:
Wapner Reversed--(Jan 11, 2001)

Sometimes the rules be damned, coaches just decide to do the right thing.  Forget the refs, this one was decided in the wrong fashion, but for all the right reasons.  According to the LA Times, the game which "ended in a tie" and which was finished "in a protest" by both El Segundo  and Torrance on Wednesday in the Ocean League has been declared by both coaches to be an El Segundo victory.  El Segundo gets the win 48-47, and improves to 15-2, 4-0, while South Torrance is 5-10, 0-4.

"...we all have high school kids doing the books and they just missed a basket," El Segundo Athletic Director Steve Shevlin told the LA Times' Peter Yoon.

Er, um, ok.  But what about the official rules, which prevent a score from being changed after the referees leave the playing area?

Rules, schmules.....
