The bracket has been updated to reflect all first round games, and second round matchups are shown.  Home teams are the teams with the fewest home games played previously.  If both teams played on the road or at home in the first round, the host was determined by flipping a coin.   Details and scoring in first round games is shown below the bracket:

Divsion I-A--First Round Game, Played 2/15

Upper Half of the Bracket

No. 1 Mission Viejo 71, Walnut 53 --University of Santa Clara-bound Travis Niesen led top-seeded Mission Viejo (25-2) with 19 points. Jake Collins added 11 points, four steals and three assists, while senior guard Kevin Stacey had 11 points. Walnut ends the season 12-15.

Santa Ana Valley 90, University 88 (4 OT) --Martin Gonzalez scored 35 points for the Falcons (19-8) at home.

Canyon (Canyon Country) 59, Montebello 43 --Chad Eichten scored 17 points to lead Canyon Country Canyon (18-9) at Montebello.

Crescenta Valley 63, Hueneme 48--Jimmy Goffredo led Crescenta Valley (20-7) with 29 points, including four three-pointers. Senior center Brian Kang grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in the win over Hueneme (15-11).  Crescenta Valley senior point guard Chris Tarne finished with 13 points, and Kang added eight points.  Crescenta Valley 13 15 17 18 -- 63 Hueneme 6 12 17 13 -- 48 CV -- Goffredo 29, Tarne 13 and 5 assists, Kang 8 and 14 rebounds, Rivera 6 and 7 rebounds, Couper 4, Reid 3. Three-pointers: Goffredo 4, Reid. Hueneme-- Inniss 21, Dillon 12, Lugo 6, Sanders 6, Forbes 3. Three-pointers: Inniss 3, Dillon 2.

Cajon 92 v. Indio 49-- The Cowboys (22-4) bolted to a 15-2 lead and just kept increasing the margin against the outmanned Rajahs (14-10), who were missing ailing 6-foot-7 junior center Earl Isaacson (eye infection).  Donovan Morris led the Cowboys to their 14th consecutive win with a game-high 26 points. Cajon forced 20 turnovers for the game, and were also paced by Romale Porter with 16 points and Rummel Clark with 12 points. Indio was led by center Rodney King with 13 points. Los Alamitos 67, Righetti 41 --Lavelle Jones had 16 points and nine rebounds for Los Alamitos (17-10). Righetti finishes 14-10.

No. 4 Loyola 89, Temescal Canyon 75--Chris Rucker led Loyoa (23-3) with 18 points, while sophomore point guard Vince Oliver scored 15 points.    Teammates Davis Cantor and Omar Wilkes added 14 and 13 points respectively. Rucker had 12 blocked shots in the win over Temescal Canyon (15-13), which trailed by just six points at the half, but Loyola hit five 3-pointers in the third quarter, outscoring the Titans 31-13 in the period.  Mike Peterson led Temescal with 18 points. Marty Wing added 15 points and 12 rebounds while Matt Twamley finished with 16 points.

Lower Half of the Bracket

No. 3 Thousand Oaks 64, Century 48--Kasey Myers scored 20 points and C.J. Handlos tallied 14 for Thousand Oaks.  Century was led by Ivan Preciado with 13 points  and Ramon Mendoza with 12 points. Century (48) -- D. Sok 9, Martinez 4, Preciado 13, Mendoza 12, Sanchez 3, K. Sok 7.  Thousand Oaks (64) -- Mazza 2, Anderson 5, Rex 6, Olson 6, Myers 20, Handlos 14, Sletten 3, Grosslight 9.   Century 5 20 15 8--48 Thousand Oaks 15 21 16 12--64  3-Point goals -- Century 2 (D. Sok 1, Mendoza 1). Thousand Oaks 3 (Anderson 1, Sletten 1, Rex 1). Fouled out -- K. Sok, Mendoza (C); Olson (TO). Rebounds -- Century 24, Thousand Oaks 27. Rowland 54, Edison 44 --Vashon Pruitt scored 19 points and Marques Smith added 13 as Rowland (20-7) scored the game's last 10 points to advance to the second round.  Billy Braun led Edison (17-11) with 12 points.

San Gorgonio 66, Corona Santiago 63 --Khorry Lewis hit a three-pointer to give San Gorgonio (20-7) a one-point lead with a minute to play and Kevin Houston made two free throws with four seconds left. Lewis, Houston and Daryl Leach had 18 points each. Bryan LeDuc scored 23 and had 14 rebounds for Santiago (18-8). Deon Simpson was held to jut nine points, well below his 25 point average.  Santiago outscored the Spartans 20-9 in the third quarter to take a 49-44 lead.

Riverside Poly 46, Trabuco Hills 45--details not available

Hart 71, Camarillo 65--details not available.

Lancaster 88, Bell Gardens 60--The Eagles' pressure created one fast-break opportunity after another early that helped them to an early lead, and they rolled from there. Michael Webb scored nine of his team-high 20 points for host Lancaster (20-7) in the first quarter, and Charles Jones scored eight of his 18 in the same period.

Silverado 64, Yucaipa 63 --Silverado held on to a slim lead throughout the fourth quarter to win at home. Ryan Diggs scored 20 points, 18 in the second half to lead Silverado (18-9). Matt king scored 20 for Yucaipa in the loss.Yucaipa finishes at 19-7.

No. 2 Glendora 65, West Covina 45 --Davon Roberts had 16 points and six rebounds for Glendora (25-2), which led, 25-17, at the half. The Tartans had four players in double figures. Spencer Foster recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Larry Monroe scored 15 and Justin Onaka had 12. Michael Mehanna added seven assists.  West Covina (16-12) was outscored 25-11 in the fourth quarter.


All games with the exception of the final round will start at 7:30 p.m. unless another time is mutually agreed upon and clearance is received from the CIF-SS Office.  Public coin flips will be held in the lobby of the CIF-SS Office at 9:00 a.m. the day following each playoff game [these coin flips will determine subsquent sites after the first round, i.e., which school will be the host].  Coin flips will be available after 9:30 a.m. and we'll try to keep everyone posted with them here.
