Los Angeles, CA: ARC Instructional Academy Winter Session
When: December 5--Registration; Practice Begins September 12, League Play Jan 10 through March 7 Saturday--North Hollywood H.S. 9 A.M.; Olive Recreation Center (Burbank) 11 A.M.; Pierce College 1 P.M. Learn the fundamentals from current and former high school coaches. Develop the skills to become a top high school player. Traveling teams will be formed. Any team can enter league competition. ARC division tournament for all teams after completion of league play, plus eventual regional and national tournaments. Former ARC players include NBA Stars: Jason Kidd, Shawn Kemp, Byron Scott, Don MacLean, Trevor Wilson, Tracy Murray, Mitchell Butler, Chris Mills, Sean Higgins, Steve Kerr, Sean Rooks, Tom Hammonds, Dwayne Schintzius, Ronnie Grandison, Darrick Martin, and James Cotton. Redondo Beach/Los Angeles, CA: 47th Annual Pacific Shores Tournament
When: First Week Dec 1998 at Redondo and Mira Costa High Schools. Last year's tournament featured some top teams in SoCal, including Redondo, Fairfax, Serra, Long Beach Jordan, and others. Los Angeles, CA: 2nd Annual Reebok-Compton Prep Tip-Off Classic
When: First Week Dec.1998 at Compton College. Invitational tournament only. High School teams from around SoCal, featuring the top teams and college prospects.

Anaheim, CA: The John Wooden Classic Tournament
When:
December 4, 1997--high school tournament; December 6, 1997 College Classic.
Games will be played at the Pond in Anaheim.

Oxnard-Ventura, CA: 1998 Gold Coast Classic (Girls' Varsity)
When: December 8-12, 1998 Hosted by Rio Mesa (Oxnard) and San Marcos (Santa Barbara) High Schools. One of the best early season girl's basketball tournaments in CIF-SS. Top seeds include: Channel Islands, Santa Barbara, Moorpark, Santa Ynez, Royal. Tournament is played at both schools, with the final day being played at Rio Mesa (alternate years with San Marcos). Los Angeles/Simi Valley, CA: 14th Annual Simi Valley Basketball Tip Off Classic
When: Early December 1998. Last year's tournament was held at both Simi and Camarillo Highs for the pool play; finals were at Simi. Invitational only. For entry information, contact Simi Valley High Coach Dean Bradshaw.

Los Angeles/Cerritos, CA: Annual Gahr-Cerritos Basketball Tournament
When: Early December 1998. This tournament will be held at both Gahr and Cerritos Highs for the pool play; finals will be at Gahr. Invitational.

Montebello, CA: 2d Annual Montebello Golden State Basketball Tournament
When: (tentative) Early December 1998. Boys 14U Tournament. $225 per team ($100 nonrefundable deposit). 3 game guarantee. First 8 teams will be guaranteed a spot. All Games will be played under C.I.F. rules. For further information contact Dave Gomez P.O. Box 1783, Montebello, CA., (213) 721-2829.

Santa Monica, CA: The 36th Annual St. Monica Classic
When: Early Dec. 1998 Location: St. Monica's (Not Santa Monica High, which is a different school). For further information, contact St. Monica Coach Scott McDowell.

Nordhoff-(Moorpark-Ojai-Santa Paula), CA: Nordhoff Boys Basketball Tournament
When: Early Dec. 1998 Location: Nordhoff High School. Teams will be mostly from the Frontier League (host Nordhoff), the Channel League (Channel Islands, Hueneme), Tri-Valley League (Fillmore), and Condor League (Thacher), and others. Contact Nordhoff High for times and location.

Thousand Oaks, CA: 27th Annual Thousand Oaks Rotary Invitational
When: Early Dec. 1997 Location: T.O. High School. Last year's teams were Harvard-Westlake, Grant (LA), Thousand Oaks (varsity and jv), Oak Park, Dos Pueblos, Newbury Park, and Echuca High from Bendigo, Australia. Tournament schedule from last year and rosters are here.

Westlake Village, CA: The Westlake Boys Basketball Tournament
When: Early Dec. 1998 Location: Westlake High School. Call Westlake High School for further information.

Huntington Beach, CA: Ocean View Tournament of Champions
When: Early Dec. 1998 Boys High School Varsity tournament, played at Ocean View High School, featuring some of the best teams in SoCal. Last year featured Compton and several other top teams. Sixteen team tournament with 4 game guarantee. Hospitality room for coaches, officials, and media. $285.00 entry fee. For further information call (714) 768-0787 x275.

San Bernardino, CA: Rialto-Eisenhower High School Tip-Off Tournament

Oxnard-Ventura, CA: The Channel Islands High School Basketball Tournament

Fillmore-Moorpark, CA: The Fillmore High School Basketball Tournament

Southern California: 3rd Annual ABC Pre-Christmas Classic
When: Mid Dec. 1998 For boys 4th, 5th , 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Played in the Southern California area. Last year was an excellent tournament, and this one should be better. For information contact Mike Lewis at (310) 523-1588

Los Angeles/Chatsworth, CA: Chaminade Christmas Classic
When: Mid Dec.,1998. The Chaminade Christmas Classic is held at Chaminade College Prep, and it is for Boys Varsity teams. There is a three game guarantee, with awards for the champion, second place and the consolation champion, as well as individual awards for all tournament, best three point shooter, and the player with the most hustle. Redondo Beach/Los Angeles: Redondo Union 6th Annual Sea Hawk Classic
When: Dec. 19-23, 1998 at Redondo Beach Union High School. If you are a high school coach looking for summer tournaments, or a Christmas tournament Dec. 19-23, please e-mail coachjoe.gte.net with your phone & fax #'s and I will be happy to send you the information. Briefly, the December tournament is the 6th Annual Sea Hawk Classic in Redondo Beach, CA. It is a 4-level tournament with a 3-game guarantee at the Frosh, Soph, & JV levels and a 4-game guarantee at the Varsity level.

Los Angeles/Chino Hills, CA: 1998 Ayala Dogfight Tournament

San Diego, CA: Christmas Shoot Around

UC Santa Barbara, CA: EYC Pre-Christmas Tournament

Ventura, CA: Ventura Holiday Invitational II

Ventura, CA: Ventura High School Classic
When: Mid to Late Dec. At Ventura High School, featuring games between teams from Agoura, Buena High, Calabasas, Santa Clara, and Westlake Highs. For further information contact Ventura High School

Los Angeles, CA: 4th Annual 4"D" Stars /NJB Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament
When: Dec 27-29, 1998. Boys Age: 10, 11, 12, 13, & 14. Girls: 5th & 6th Grade, 7th & 8th Grade; Played at South Bay High Schools. Hosted jointly by National Junior Basketball and 4 "D" All Stars. Completed Registration fee and rosters are due by December 8, 1997. First 16 teams per age group will be entered. In years past in addition to tournament competition, the event has featured 3-point contest, free-throw shoot-out, coaches dinner, and special gifts for each player. Santa Paula, CA: Santa Paula Christmas Tournament
When: Late Dec. 1998: At Santa Paula High School. Featuring games between teams from Santa Paula, Hueneme, Oak Park, Oxnard and others. For information contact Santa Paula High School.

Los Angeles. CA: La Salle-Temple Tip-Off Tournament
When: Late December 1998. Hosted by La Salle High School and Temple High. Pool play at both gyms, Championship round at La Salle. For further information contact La Salle High School head coach Steve Goldstein.

Long Beach/Los Angeles: The Best in the West Tournament
When: Late Dec. 1998 at Long Beach City College. Last year the field was expanded to 36 teams. The Tournament is considered one of the most prestigious December prep tournaments in California. Last year the BIW's top four seeds were State Champion Westchester, CIF Semi-Finalist Long Beach Poly, CIF D-1 Finalists Artesia and Southern Section Semi Finalists Compton.

Los Angeles/Santa Clarita: 27th Annual Hart High Holiday Classic

Santa Barbara, CA: The Santa Barbara Holiday Classic
When:
Late Dec. at Santa Barbara High School. The Dons will play host to teams from Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Channel Islands, Dos Pueblos, and San Marcos. For further information contact Santa Barbara Coach Jeff Lavender.

Westminster, CA: The Boys' & Girls' Club of Westminster Holiday Classic

Late Dec. Westminster, CA . This tournament is for Middle School teams, and Boys and Girls Clubs/Recreation Centers with comprable age groups; Boys grades 8 and ages 10-12 Two divisons featuring an all-tournament team and MVP selection. 1st throught 5th place team trophies. San Francisco, CA: San Francisco Flame Tournament
When: First week in December Boys & Girls tournament for grades 6, 7 and 8 (12-U, 13-U, 14-U). Tournament is run by the San Francisco Fire Department. $100 entry fee, 2 game guarantee. Daly City, CA: Tim McGillicuty Tournament
When: First & Second weeks in December Boys grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 (11-U, 12-U, 13-U, 14-U). Tourney is run by the Daly City Parks & Rec. Dept., hosting more than 100 teams. School teams only. Entry fee $75. 5th and 8th grade teams play in the first week, while 6th and 7th grade teams play the following week. Sacramento, CA: NJB NorCal All-Net Christmas Tournament
When: second week in December Boys & Girls Grades 2 through 8. Tournament featuring between 36 and 40 teams. NJB qualifying event for NJB State Tournament in Orange County, played in July. Sacramento, CA: Encina High School Sacramento Roundball Classic
When: second week in December Boys Varsity tournament. 8 team field with a three game guarantee. Team trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place teams. Individual trophies are awarded for the championship team players. Individual awards are also awarded for the all-tournament team and MVP. All players receive a T-shirt. Sacramento, CA: Encina High School Frosh Roundball Classic
When: Third week in December Boys Frosh teams. This tournament for freshman boys features an 8 team field with a three game guarantee. Team trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place teams. Individual trophies are awarded for the championship team players. Individual awards are also awarded for the all-tournament team and MVP. All players receive a T-shirt. Cost is $125 per team.
